Alec Cumming graduated in 2007 from Norwich University of the Arts with a degree in Fine Art. He has enjoyed success with a number of major solo shows in London, throughout the UK and abroad. Alec has spent time working globally and lived in Delhi for three years working in a studio at the Niv Art Centre in South Delhi. Alec exhibited at 9 India Art Fairs, was selected as ‘one to watch’ in 2016 and is the youngest artist to have a solo exhibition with the British Council in India. In 2017 Alec was selected for a Residency with Dyad Creative in conjunction with Museums in India and the South Asia Collection in the UK. In this space he created a monumental painting project, a series of 4m long mural works considering material memory - 'Dialogues with India’. In 2018 Alec worked and had shows in LA, Paris and London and in 2019 Alec begun working with The Edit Gallery in Cyprus, where he had his debut solo exhibition in October 2019. In 2020, Alec won the Banditto Residency Prize where he spent 10 days working in the idillic surroundings of Montefollonico. Since 2020 he has been exhibiting at The Other Art Fair in LA, New York and London and being a part of group shows at Fairhurst Gallery, Norwich, UK, the Edit Gallery in Cyprus and the Banditto Gallery, Tuscany, And Paul Stewart Gallery, Paris. Since 2022 he has been represented in the UK by Rhodes Contemporary Gallery, London. In 2021 alec accepted the invitation to become a Trustee of the South Asia Collection.
