Ben Edmunds (b. 1994, Norwich UK) is an artist based in London.
Best known for paintings that combine tropes of modernist abstraction with the stylised accents of extreme sports, his practice moves between painting, branding, sculpture and wearables. Through the lens of Abstract Expressionism and Colour Field - in which painting sought to become a transcendental experience - his paintings can be seen as an updated modernism, a search for meaning akin to climbing mountains or sailing in open water.
With a passion for sailing and windsurfing, Edmunds is interested in the tools that enable these adventures and questions in what way an abstract painting might also function to help us reach something. In 2019 he founded Aspirational Equipment Ltd., an artist’s objects company that further questions the assumed anti-utilitarianism of an artwork, and the crossover between artist and brand.
At its core, Edmunds’ practice is about the pursuit of something greater, the urge to go beyond the boundaries of geography and possibilities of the body. This never-ending search that is part of the human condition. His works may appear engineered and hi-tech, but maintain the romantic notion of the artist as an explorer, forever in pursuit of their dreams.

Popcorn and cascade bidding:
If a bid is placed during the last 2 minutes of the auction, the closing time will be automatically extended for an additional 2 minutes from the time the last bid was placed. The item will close once all bidding activity has stopped. This is recommended for high-value and popular items. Popcorn bidding prevents bidders from waiting until the last minute to bid without giving the bidders who were outbid an opportunity to rebid.
Cascade bidding ensures auction lots close at staggering times, one after another. For example, the first lot of an auction might close at 12:01pm, the second lot would close at 12:02pm, then the third lot at 12:03pm, etc.
