Artist Yu Nagaba (1976), born in Tokyo, freezes moments of mundane poetry in his signature monochrome line work, making iconography out of a seated couple in simple attire. His portfolio consists of a steady stream of exhibitions, fine art, and collaborations with recognizable brands in both Japan and abroad. Illustrious for his previous projects with the famous Japanese fashion magazine "POPEYE" and Converse, he has since gone on to collaborate with BEAMS, UNIQLO, and KEEN.
His ventures into fine art include several group and solo exhibitions. Nagaba's recent solo show of 2020, "The Last Supper" was a flamboyant amalgamation of 90's American film, art, and music culture from his childhood. His show "Express More with Less," however, uses the same style to intelligently explore the other side of culture, through the quieter gestures and movement of notable figures. His painting on a recycled London Bus panel was featured in 4BYSIX's recent group show, BREAK IN EMERGENCY 3, alongside other renowned contemporary artists from all corners of the world.
