Leyla Fischer is a Somali-German painter, born and raised in Germany. Self-taught and influenced by contrasting cultural backgrounds, her paintings delve into themes of resilience, protection, and freedom. Since her earliest childhood, the artist studied her Somali mother’s art books and painted from then on. Layered with personal narratives, the artworks are created using multiple thin layers of oil paint in earthy tones, reflecting emotions of grounding and yearning.
