"I first chose to get involved with the project, because I felt it served a good cause. I was also interested in breathing new life into these panels that were decommissioned from a long-retired vehicle." - Qin Tan
Qin Tan uses universal stick figures in order to capture, as accurately as possible, the human condition. The simple characters allow the artist to project upon them the complex emotions and narratives we encounter as a bipedal species. She aims to use these paintings as catalysts for deeper reflection upon our surroundings. Frequently depicted in her images are tools and human creations, the objects by which we orient ourselves in the world. She depicts books and food, knowledge and energy, the fundamentals of life.
Right beside the human, she paints the complexities of non-human life. Her work is an interchangeable study on the dynamics of creatures living in a shared world, regardless of perceived intelligence each being has an identity and story. Like with life, the deeper her work is viewed, the more convoluted it becomes. Reality breaks down where the hyper real meets the hyper abstracted. Tan expertly documents the essence of our consciousness, even when that goes against the basics of physics.
Framing: We recommend displaying a bus panel floating in a frame (frame not included)

Popcorn bidding: If a bid is placed during the last 5 minutes of the auction, the closing time will be automatically extended for an additional five minutes from the time the last bid was placed. The item will close once all bidding activity has stopped. This is recommended for high-value and popular items. Popcorn bidding prevents bidders from waiting until the last minute to bid without giving the bidders who were outbid an opportunity to rebid.
