"Lady Pink's assistant Taped off the panel in order to create the brick texture, then Pink hand painted the lines in before completing the piece with spray paint. She also utilised pointillism in her spray paint work to add that extra something to the panel. She got involved with the project because using art and creativity to support disadvantaged communities is something very close to her heart. She has been fortunate enough to be able to support her own community with her art and never passes up the opportunity to support other communities through creative means." - Victoria, Lady Pink's assistant

Lady Pink was born in Ecuador, raised in NYC and currently lives and works in the countryside north of the city. As a woman and early pioneer in the 80s New York Grafitti scene, she has become an icon of street art and hip-hop culture. Pink painted subway trains from the years 1979-1985, and was quickly known as the most influential woman in the subculture. On top of that, her role in the 1982 film “Wild Style” cemented her position in New York’s rutted past. She has been showing her work in galleries and museums since she was in high school, with her work being collected around the world.

As a bonafide actor in the street art movement, her work is a part of the major institutions documenting its rise, such as The Grafitti, The Brooklyn, and The Whitney Museums. Today, Lady Pink continues the legacy by creating original works and teaching. In mural workshops and lectures, she shares her 40 years of experience to a new generation of artists.

Popcorn bidding: If a bid is placed during the last 5 minutes of the auction, the closing time will be automatically extended for an additional five minutes from the time the last bid was placed. The item will close once all bidding activity has stopped. This is recommended for high-value and popular items. Popcorn bidding prevents bidders from waiting until the last minute to bid without giving the bidders who were outbid an opportunity to rebid.
