Răzvan Boar (b. 1982) earned both his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from the National University of Arts in Bucharest. His artistic practice spans multiple media, focusing on the relationships and tensions between painting and other visual forms. Boar approaches the medium as an aggregate structure—a network of technical elements and layered conventions that extend beyond its material properties. His work engages with culturally resonant imagery, drawing inspiration from sources such as the Golden Age of Comics, late Modernism, and the rise of Pop Art. Deeply rooted in drawing, his process often begins with intuitive line work that shapes the characters and visual narratives at the core of his compositions. Recent exhibitions include The Ballad of the Children of the Czar, Galeria Nicodim, Bucharest; Beauties and Beasts, Veta Galeria, Madrid; Immaculate Heart of Margaritaville, Nicodim Gallery, Los Angeles; Galeria Nicodim, Bucharest: 10 Years; Alive in Sight Only for a Second, Galeria Sector 1, Bucharest; and DISEMBODIED, Galeria Nicodim, Bucharest.
