Delta N.A. are a couple in life and in art working together with a painting technique in unison. They learn from each other and share a creative flow that pours into their art as a common language and that makes each artwork, realized by two pairs of hands, look like a single artist’s creation. In love and collaboration they find the key to face and accept differences crumbling the boundaries separating human nature from freedom. They believe that art can influence the way reality is perceived and help create a positive approach to life, so they commit themselves to emphasize the value of freedom, respect and love for nature.

TO BEGIN, PLEASE COULD YOU INTRODUCE US TO THE WORLD OF DELTA N.A. AND THE KEY EVENTS AND INSPIRATIONS WHICH SHAPED THE START OF YOUR ARTISTIC VISION?
We were both psychologists, but we were passionate about art and we were spending all our free time drawing and painting. When we fell in love, our heart took over and our passion for art became uncontrollable until we decided to devote our life to it. So basically our art was born from our love. Then, one day, a collector asked us for a big painting, but we had just few days to create it, before leaving for
our honeymoon. The only way to make it was to work together, simultaneously, on the same canvas. The kaleidoscope of our emotions suddenly doubled in intensity, leaving us amazed and open-minded. Since that day, we have always painted together.
WHEN YOU CREATE TOGETHER, HOW DO YOU APPROACH THE BALANCE BETWEEN YOUR INDIVIDUAL AND SHARED EMOTIONS AND MEMORIES IN AN ARTWORK? TO WHAT DEGREE DOES THIS PROCESS OF MERGING YOUR TWO EXPERIENCES SHAPE THE FINAL PIECE?
We are totally free. All our contents are mixing together without any rules. They find their balance during the painting process. When everything find its shape and its place, the painting is in a complete harmony and it seems made by only one artist. It is like a dialogue between two souls speaking colors.
BEFORE PAINTING WITH OILS, YOU BEGAN YOUR ARTISTIC JOURNEY ON CARDBOARD WITH HOME-DECORATING BRUSHES AND LOW-QUALITY PAINTS. WHAT VALUE DO YOU THINK THOSE LOW-QUALITY MATERIALS HAD IN YOUR CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT, AND DO YOU THINK THEIR LIMITATIONS CONTRIBUTED TO A MORE EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH TO YOUR CURRENT PAINTING PRACTICE?
Our self confidence grew up paired with our art and the material we were using. At the beginning we were too unconfident to use art materials, so we used only cardboard with home-decorating brushes. Step by step we started using acrylic on canvas and then oil on canvas. Oil colors are actually our main medium, we feel them connected to our deepest emotions...they are our native language. When we started having many exhibitions, we got obsessed with artwork’s quality. Each artworks seems to be a never ending work, we always find some touch ups, we can’t stop looking for a better definition until we are completely satisfied. We often experiment different materials like: watercolors, pen on paper, chalks and pastels, sculptures etc.. recently we have been creating a mural painting.We have spent weeks going up and down from a trabatelles to change perspective. It was a great practice. It was fun and it opened our perception.
BY REFLECTING ON YOUR ARTISTIC JOURNEY, CAN YOU TELL US WHAT INITIALLY DREW YOU TO WORKING WITH 4BYSIX AND THE APPEAL OF SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY PROJECTS SUCH AS OUR PAINTING WORKSHOPS?
We believe that art should offer an innovative and joyful perspective, in our opinion art is a wonderful way to reach emotional wellness and fulfilness. We feel that we share a common vibe with the projects organized by 4BYSIX: we are both willing to create something positive and to bring hope through art. There is nothing better than this!

YOU RECENTLY MADE A NEW ARTWORK ON ONE OF 4BYSIX’S UNCONVENTIONAL CANVASES MADE FROM REPURPOSED LORRY TARPAULIN. CAN YOU TELL US HOW YOU FOUND THE PROCESS AND IF THE MATERIAL SPARKED ANY ARTISTIC INSPIRATION?
We worked very well on this kind of material, we truly care about the environment! We have painted free animals living in a bright and hopeful landscape, the inspiration came also by the idea that if we do care about the earth and we engage in environmental protection we could all enjoy a better world made of peaceful coexistence!
FROM THE ANIMALS, THE COMPOSITION AND THE COLOUR PALETTE, WHAT MORE CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE NEW WORK YOU HAVE MADE?
It is an artwork inspired by freedom and joy. The title “Make a wish” encloses this sense of possibility and believing in the power of change: sometimes miracles are waiting for us right round the corner. This is also a wishes that the 4BYSIX projects continues to bring joy and hope to anyone in need.
AS TRAVELLING, AN OPEN CURIOSITY TOWARDS DIFFERENT CULTURES AND A DEEPENING CONNECTION TO THE NATURAL WORLD HAS SHAPED YOUR PRACTICE, CAN YOU SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE ROLE OF ART IN ENCOURAGING AN AWARENESS OF SUSTAINABILITY? Yes, absolutely. In our life, the encounter of different cultures and different beliefs enriched our souls deeply and step by step shaped our artistic vision. There was a point in which we started walking in the countryside to find peace of mind. We could feel the healing power of nature. Since then animals have become main characters of our artworks. Their instinct and their pure feelings are an endless source of inspiration. Nature opens a window to human collective subconscious and deep contents. We believe that sharing a message of coexistence between different cultures and between man and nature can help people reflect on the real meaning of happiness and peace.
FINALLY, HOW HAS LIFE IN THE STUDIO BEEN FOR YOU BOTH AND CAN YOU TELL US WHAT IS NEXT FOR DELTA N.A.?
In the last two years we have spent many months of our life in Asia, between South Korea and China. We have been part of many art projects in museums of Shanghai, Seoul and Foshan. We have been surprised by the kindness surrounding us everywhere. Our stay has been enchanting and enriched us so much! We always don’t know what is next for Delta N.A. Like in our art, improvisation is our main way.
What we can say is that at the present we are very happy with our path. While we are finishing our project for 4BYSIX, we are packing our luggage, ready to fly to China for a 6 month project at the Four Seasons Art Museum of Foshan, China. We will create a series of artworks for their public collection. It will be an amazing experience! At the same time we will exhibit our art in Palm Springs USA with Musonium Gallery and in Foshan at ALT Gallery and Deep Time Gallery, so .... follow us to see our path!
