The work was inspired by the contrast of the old streets of London and the vibrant cultural scene that has blossomed in the 1950's until present. The ghost represents London's past which I decided to set against the speckled brightly colored spray paint double decker bus which alludes to London's contemporary art scene.

Adam Handler's intuitive and quirky paintings strike the perfect balance of childlike primitivism and emotional energy. In reoccurring characters such as ghosts, girls, and spiders, Handler recreates the innocence of a child through depth-less figurations upon colourful backdrops. Using acrylics, oil sticks, pencil, and marker, he makes flat outlines of objects in motion bounding with emotion. Frequent portraits of ghosts include short phrases, as if to memorialise memories or encapsulate nostalgia into a cute translucent being. His ghosts are small thoughts that implore you to remember time past or the critical importance of now. Having been raised in a frame factory, he was gifted the eyes of an artist as a child which must explain his expert ability to recall the simplicity of the past. Handler studied life drawing in Italy and later received his art history degree from Purchase College. His young child now drives him to create new visions for his art and future, pushing what he wants to represent further and further from his studio in New York. He has exhibited all over the world, namely Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
