She may not be real. But she (the heroine) certainly exists.

Backside works. is a contemporary artist who creates mixed-subculture art.

The artist creates imaginary heroines on canvas using all kinds of materials such as acrylic paint, silk screen, giclee, and stickers.

The artist loves subcultures, especially Japanese otaku culture and street culture.

The artworks also have a strong affinity with these cultures.

In production, the artist specialises in pen and spray painting, a technique based on the culture of Japanese animation, manga, and graffiti art.

The artist's concept is "Heroine".

The heroines depicted in his works have a story to tell.

In order to make them exist, the artist begins with the creation of a detailed story.

The artist says,

I don't want to just draw pretty, fashionable girls.

I want to depict a "heroine" who sees the viewer of the work as the "protagonist" and who builds the story together with the protagonist.

It is with this belief that I paint my works.
