Ellen Wieske is an artist who works in many materials. Primarily a metalsmith she developed her skill set working in the Detroit jewellery industry for 18 years as a jeweller, stone setter and designer. She shows her work and teaches internationally. She received an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Currently she maintains dowstudio with her wife, potter Carole Ann Fer in Deer Isle on the coast of down east Maine where they have lived for 22 years. Ellen Wieske recently retired from the Haystack Mountain School of Craft where she was the deputy director for over 20 years. She served as Interim Executive Director in 2022
