Original artwork

Edition 1 of 1

Paint on repurposed London bus panel

Jonte Kariuki (age 23)

This panel was painted by Jonte Kariuki. It is 26 x 54cm, and made of acrylic on aluminium. The sale of this painting will go directly toward the Wajukuu Art Project of Nairobi, Kenya.

Jonte is one of the collective’s junior members. The junior members act as mentors for the kids and work on projects throughout the week. Some of their projects include garden work, construction work, and community outreach. Their small farm is just the start of the much larger mission of re-greening their community. They also participate in workshops, teaching each other skills such as carpentry and photography. Each of the project’s junior members grew up in the kids club and are artists in training.

Popcorn and cascade bidding:

If a bid is placed during the last 2 minutes of the auction, the closing time will be automatically extended for an additional 2 minutes from the time the last bid was placed. The item will close once all bidding activity has stopped. This is recommended for high-value and popular items. Popcorn bidding prevents bidders from waiting until the last minute to bid without giving the bidders who were outbid an opportunity to rebid.

Cascade bidding ensures auction lots close at staggering times, one after another. For example, the first lot of an auction might close at 12:01pm, the second lot would close at 12:02pm, then the third lot at 12:03pm, etc.
