Bio: Josiah Ellner is an accomplished artist based in Chicago, who recently earned his Master of Fine Arts in painting and drawing from the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Although he was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Josiah spent his formative years in Xi'an, China. Growing up in a bustling metropolis of over 8 million people, characterized by a scarcity of green spaces and a dearth of wildlife, he often felt a profound disconnect from the natural world.

However, despite this sense of alienation, Josiah Ellner has experienced a magnetic attraction to nature, nurturing a deep yearning to reconnect with it. Drawing inspiration from his personal encounters and engagements with the natural world, he skillfully weaves together playful narratives that capture those fleeting moments of wonder and intimate connection.

Through a meticulous process of abstraction, Josiah adeptly elevates and fully conveys the whimsical and sometimes awkward interactions he shares with the natural world in his artistic creations. His work serves as a testament to his unique perspective and his ability to channel his complex relationship with nature into captivating and thought-provoking art.
