Returns and refunds
We want every work to arrive safely and to feel right on your wall. If something isn't right, this page explains what you can do. If you have a question that isn't answered here, email enquire@4bysix.com and a member of the team will reply personally.
Can I change my mind after ordering?
Yes, except for auction purchases (see "Are there any works that can't be returned?" below). If you change your mind before your work has been dispatched, email us with your order number and we will cancel the order and refund you in full, including delivery.
Once your work has been delivered, you have 14 days from the day it arrives to tell us you would like to return it. See "How do returns work?" below.
Can I make changes to my order?
Let us know as soon as possible if you need to change your delivery address or any other detail. We can usually make changes until the work has been packed. Once it is in transit, we may not be able to change the delivery.
My work has arrived damaged or is not as described. What should I do?
Every work is packed by experienced art handlers, and larger pieces are sent in a wooden crate, but if something has gone wrong we will put it right.
- Please check your work, and its packaging, when it arrives.
- Tell us about any visible damage within 48 hours of delivery. Please keep all of the packaging and send us photos of the work, the packaging and any damage.
Depending on the problem, we will arrange a repair, a replacement where one is possible, or a full refund, including the cost of delivery and return. This does not affect your legal rights.
How do returns work?
- Tell us within 14 days of delivery that you would like to return your work. You then have a further 14 days to send it back.
- Please do not book your own courier. We arrange a tracked collection so the work is handled properly. Larger works are collected in their original crate.
- The work must be returned in the condition you received it, in its original packaging, with its certificate of authenticity and any other documents that came with it.
- Unless the work arrived damaged, faulty or not as described, the cost of the return collection is deducted from your refund. We will confirm this cost before we book the collection.
When will I get my refund?
We check every returned work when it reaches us. Once it has been checked, we refund you within 14 days, including the original standard delivery charge, to the payment method you used. Your bank or card provider may take a few more working days to show the refund.
If a work comes back damaged, or without its certificate of authenticity, we may reduce the refund to reflect this. We will always talk to you first.
Are there any works that can't be returned?
- Auction purchases: Orders resulting from auctions are final and non-cancellable once the auction has closed.
- Works framed or altered to your own specification can only be returned if they arrive damaged, faulty or not as described.
- Commissions made especially for you are not covered by our change-of-mind returns.
Customs and duties
For orders delivered outside the UK, import duties and taxes charged by your country are your responsibility and we are not able to refund them. You may be able to reclaim them from your local customs authority.
