British artist Alexander James (b.1993) uses painting and fabric sculpture to reference his past, dissecting how personal image shapes identity. Through reflection, James studies the ways in which his adornment, respecting social groups and subcultures, creates character and relates to others.
His work is an assemblage of memories or stories made physical by the romanticized collection of sentimental fabrics. Since receiving his degree from Camberwell College of Arts in London in 2015 he has gone on to exhibit in London, Berlin, and New York.
