Cuban artist CB Hoyo addresses the facets of humanity rarely spoken about in art. In colourful lettering, Hoyo speaks on the impact of social media, over consumption, and indifference. His work often references and criticises the art market; blatant copies of famous works announce their worth while simple statements mock himself and other artists. The self taught artist relies on levity, using comedy to defuse social situations and capitalise on them through the virtual world of instagram. From his studio in Europe, CB Hoyo defies the classical art canon with a childlike aesthetic, provoking expectations of what art is and can be. His work humorously explores the inner dialogue of humanity, satirising the essence of humanity.
