Paint on repurposed London bus panel

Simon Irungu (age 12)

The Wajukuu children are incredible, hilarious and full of spirit. Over the weekend workshop they flitted between two states: intently focused on their paintings or bouncing off of the walls, doing little dances and singing songs. They became great friends and in them I see bright futures.

This panel was painted by Simon Irungu. It is 30 x 51cm, and made of acrylic on aluminium. The sale of this painting will go directly toward the Wajukuu Art Project of Nairobi, Kenya.

In a brief interview with Simon, he said he felt good and that he enjoys drawing, singing, and drumming. Simon says he finds the beauty in his community at home and at church.

Popcorn and cascade bidding:

If a bid is placed during the last 2 minutes of the auction, the closing time will be automatically extended for an additional 2 minutes from the time the last bid was placed. The item will close once all bidding activity has stopped. This is recommended for high-value and popular items. Popcorn bidding prevents bidders from waiting until the last minute to bid without giving the bidders who were outbid an opportunity to rebid.

Cascade bidding ensures auction lots close at staggering times, one after another. For example, the first lot of an auction might close at 12:01pm, the second lot would close at 12:02pm, then the third lot at 12:03pm, etc.
