empowerment. Focusing on discovering ways in which to mirror the human condition in a state of recovery, Bretez often includes an illuminated horizon line, stating, “I paint horizons for those who have suffered. They symbolize the Possible and the Elsewhere.” Bretez utilizes reverse voyeurism to challenge our societal relationship with the naked female body and create distance between her characters and the viewer. Unfaltering and strong, the women in Bretez’s paintings look directly out at the spectator, serving to prove they are not at the viewer's disposal; rather, they assert control of their own bodies. A natural storyteller, Bretez accompanies each painting with a poem to incorporate an additional layer of dialogue. Messages of hope and perseverance permeate Bretez’s work as she seeks to provide strength in the face of vulnerability

Popcorn and cascade bidding:
If a bid is placed during the last 2 minutes of the auction, the closing time will be automatically extended for an additional 2 minutes from the time the last bid was placed. The item will close once all bidding activity has stopped. This is recommended for high-value and popular items. Popcorn bidding prevents bidders from waiting until the last minute to bid without giving the bidders who were outbid an opportunity to rebid.
Cascade bidding ensures auction lots close at staggering times, one after another. For example, the first lot of an auction might close at 12:01pm, the second lot would close at 12:02pm, then the third lot at 12:03pm, etc.
